This wine displays a deep cherry-red hue. On the nose, it offers an intense aromatic profile of lush red fruits and warm spices, rounded out by vanilla tones from time spent in both American and French oak barrels. On the palate it is full-bodied but remains fresh, with supple tannins and a long, elegant finish that’s silky yet structured.
Aalto 2022 is made entirely from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), sourced from very old vines, typically 40 to 80 years old, spread across nine separate villages in the provinces of Burgos and Valladolid. After manual harvest and careful sorting, fermentation takes place parcel by parcel. The wine is aged for approximately 17 months in a blend of French and American oak barrels to build depth and oak character, yet with attention paid to preserving fruit purity and freshness.
Serve at about 16-18 °C (decanting recommended). Ideal with grilled or roast red meats, hearty stews, lamb, classy game dishes or mature cheeses. The oak spice, dark fruit and structure make it well suited to bold-flavoured foods.
