Figuero is a boutique estate in Ribera del Duero focusing on small parcels of old vines across the region. The '15' refers to fifteen months in French oak, longer than standard aging requirements. The 2018 vintage in Ribera was excellent, delivering wines with ripeness, structure and balance. This Reserva comes from vines averaging 40+ years old, contributing depth and concentration.
Black cherry, blackberry and plum with dark chocolate, espresso and sweet oak spice. Full bodied with firm tannins and a concentrated core of dark fruit. There's power here but it's controlled, with freshness keeping it from feeling heavy. Layers of complexity with liquorice, leather and mineral notes. Long, persistent finish.
Decant for at least an hour if drinking now, preferably longer. This needs air to show its best. Pairs excellently with grilled steak, roast lamb, game, or aged Manchego. Still quite youthful, will develop beautifully over 10-15 years.

Tinto Figuero was born from a thousand vines, which were received by José María García and Milagros Figuero in the year of their wedding, 1961. The Figuero philosophy is based on utmost respect and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. Therefore, nature is allowed to follow its course at every stage, accompanying the wines every step of the way. Winemakers Jean-François Hébrard and Óscar Rodríguez form an essential partnership to bring together the two philosophies of “know-how” and “laissez-faire” as Figuero’s way of understanding viticulture and oenology. In keeping with the philosophy, the old vines, spread between more than 50 growing areas, are vinified according to their classification in small tanks. In this way the personality of each area can be maintained and wines of three classifications are produced: Vino de Pueblo (village wines), Vino de Paraje (wines of the same viticultural area) and Vino de Parcela (single-plot wines). The Figuero vineyards are situated at 800m above sea level and are affected by the Mediterranean climate and continental influences.
