Louis Chèze is one of the northern Rhône's most respected producers, farming steep granite slopes in both Condrieu and Saint-Joseph. Caroline is his signature Saint-Joseph cuvée, named after his daughter, showcasing pure Syrah from specific parcels with ideal exposure. The granite soils bring mineral tension and elegance to the wine. The 2022 vintage delivers ripe fruit with excellent structure and balance.
Blackberry, dark cherry and cassis with violet, black pepper and graphite. Medium to full bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity. There's concentration and depth here with classic northern Rhône character. Elegant and precise rather than powerful, showing mineral backbone from the granite terroir. Layers of dark fruit, spice and earthy complexity. Long, refined finish.
Decant for 45-60 minutes if drinking now. Pairs excellently with duck, game, grilled lamb, or hard cheeses. Serve around 16-18°C. Drinking well now but built to age gracefully over 10-12 years.

The family property was taken over in 1978 by Louis Chèze. The Domaine Louis Chèze is located on the top of the hillside of the commune of Limony, on the right bank of the Rhône, 60 Kms south of Lyon, in the heart of the northern Côtes du Rhône vineyard area. Monsieur Chèze started the adventure with 1 Ha in Saint-Joseph and a few vines he rented. Today, the estate represents 45 Ha in the prestigious appellations such as Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Côte-Rôtie as well as well-situated vineyards in Vins de Pays districts.
Since the year 2000, he is one of the forerunners with two winegrower friends reviving the fabulous Roman terroir of Seyssuel. Louis' determination, curiosity and rigour are of the utmost importance when it comes to monitoring the vineyard and making the wines. Each vintage is an in-depth search to capture the quintessence of the terroirs. Numerous vintages, each with their own differences will delight the wine and food lover in you.
