On the nose the wine opens with red cherry and plum, suffused with a whisper of dried herbs that linger in the air, setting a tone of calm elegance. Cardamom and mace emerge, followed by cranberry that lends a touch of tart brightness, all braided together with the subtle geometry of precise ripeness that characterises this vintage.
On the palate the texture is immediately alluring. Silky tannins glide across your tongue, sweet and supple yet firmly anchored, providing both structure and grace. Flavours of red fruit, cherry, plum, intertwine with herbaceous notes and a faint mineral edge drawn from the fine loess and silt soils overlying alluvial gravels. The wine’s acidity, preserved by cool nights in March, gives lift to the fruit and keeps the mid-palate tension alive so the sweetness never veers into overload.
The finish is elegant and persistent, with flavour echoes of spice, red fruit, and those herb-inflected undercurrents carrying on well beyond the final sip. The oak is evident but shaping rather than dominating: about twenty percent new French oak adds depth without drowning the vineyard’s signature character.
Cornish Point’s unique mesoclimate, its fine soils, and biodynamic stewardship all contribute to this wine’s purity. There is delicacy in the fruit, complexity from the soils, and clarity from the vintage’s slow, even ripening.

Commencing with meticulous site selection and vineyard design in 1991, Felton Road's story is one of refusal to compromise. A strict 100% estate policy with fully organic and biodynamic viticulture (BioGro and Demeter certified) ensures that their fruit arrives at the winery as pure as it can be, while the entire estate comes as close to true sustainability as is possible. A commitment to hands off winemaking: gravity flow, wild yeasts, wild malo, an avoidance of fining and filtration all help preserve the wine's expression of its terroir. The result is Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which accurately express the authenticity and complexity of their unique vineyards.
Felton Road is firmly established as one of the leading producers of Pinot Noir in the world and one of the most sustainable too.
