An exceptional Central Otago Pinot Noir, crafted from Felton Road’s biodynamic vineyards in Bannockburn, offering purity, finesse and remarkable depth.
The 2024 Bannockburn Pinot Noir opens with a lifted bouquet of dark petals and delicate spice. Hints of clove and star anise weave through aromas of rose and peony, creating an alluring interplay of florals and exotic notes. Beneath the fragrance lies a subtle earthiness, a reminder of the schist soils and cool southern landscape from which the wine is born.
On the palate, layers of black cherry and ripe plum unfold with effortless grace. The fruit is vivid yet refined, carried by a gentle savoury undertone that evokes forest floor and mineral nuances. Silky tannins envelop the flavours, their cocoa-like texture adding depth and polish without obscuring the clarity of the fruit. The natural freshness of the vintage, preserved by cool March nights, lends precision and vibrancy, ensuring the wine remains elegant and finely balanced throughout.
The finish is long and persistent, with the interplay of fruit, spice and savoury complexity lingering harmoniously. A measured use of French oak, just twenty percent new, frames the wine with discreet structure while allowing the purity of the Bannockburn vineyards to shine.
Farmed organically and biodynamically, and vinified without fining or filtration, this wine reflects both place and philosophy. The 2024 vintage brought concentration through small berry size and balance through steady, even ripening, resulting in a Pinot Noir that is both expressive in youth and certain to reward with cellaring.

Commencing with meticulous site selection and vineyard design in 1991, Felton Road's story is one of refusal to compromise. A strict 100% estate policy with fully organic and biodynamic viticulture (BioGro and Demeter certified) ensures that their fruit arrives at the winery as pure as it can be, while the entire estate comes as close to true sustainability as is possible. A commitment to hands off winemaking: gravity flow, wild yeasts, wild malo, an avoidance of fining and filtration all help preserve the wine's expression of its terroir. The result is Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which accurately express the authenticity and complexity of their unique vineyards.
Felton Road is firmly established as one of the leading producers of Pinot Noir in the world and one of the most sustainable too.
