Domaine Gassier has been family-owned since 1850, farming vineyards organically in Costières de Nîmes where the Rhône Valley meets the Mediterranean. Lou Coucardie (The Lark in Provençal) is a step up from their Nostre Pais range, showcasing more concentration and aging potential. This Grenache and Syrah blend sees oak aging and the 2017 vintage has spent significant time developing in bottle.
Red cherry and plum with leather, tobacco and earthy notes dominating now. Medium to full bodied with soft, rounded tannins smoothed by age. The fruit has evolved well beyond primary freshness into tertiary complexity with dried herbs, game and forest floor character. There's warmth typical of southern France balanced by acidity. Harmonious and mature.
Serve at room temperature (16°C). No decanting needed at this stage. Pairs well with braised meats, game, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses. Drinking at its peak now, enjoy over the next 2-3 years before it starts to fade.

Organically farmed vineyards benefit from a perpetual stewardship that focuses on soil health, biodiversity and the vines’ rich genetic pool. This partnership with nature makes a significant impact on their grapes’ ability to express their terroir, thereby giving wines of freshness, minerality and balance.
Michel Gassier and his wife, Tina, produce handcrafted wines that express “the nuances of their soils and the sincerity of their winemaker”. As a winemaker, Michel believes that the less intervention, the more the terroir can express itself. He says it is also a matter of teamwork, a duo that he forms with his wife.
