This wine pours a bright, intense garnet red with a cherry-rimmed edge. The nose is deeply layered, offering ripe fruit, balsamic tones, and savoury spices, black pepper, liquorice, nutmeg, coffee, cinnamon, and vanilla. On the palate, it's savoury yet balanced, with smooth acidity, silky tannins, and a refined, spicy finish.
From the esteemed La Rioja Alta, this cuvée blends 80% Tempranillo with 20% Garnacha sourced from Rioja Alta and Oriental (Tudelilla). The alcohol is 14.5%. Both varieties are fermented separately with native yeasts in stainless steel, followed by aging in American oak for up to 36 months for Tempranillo and 30 months for Garnacha, with multiple rackings by candlelight. Bottled in March 2021.
Serve around 17 °C (let it breathe). A sublime match with roast lamb, grilled red meat, game casseroles, or aged cheese. Its harmony of fruit, spice, and tannin complements richly flavored dishes.

Formed by five families in the late 19th century, the La Rioja Alta S.A. winery has been among the leading producers who have helped to establish and maintain the classic standards of Rioja. Their Tempranillo-led Gran Reservas, aged for remarkably long periods in barrels from the producer’s cooperage, are some of the most sought-after wines from the region. And while they always upheld standards and tradition, La Rioja Alta S.A. never stopped experimenting and pushing for better quality, offering some of the purest, precise expressions of Tempranillo in the world. 2017 Vintage - "A dry vintage overall with a Mediterranean character. Wines with great ageing potential given their high polyphenolic content. Refined and elegant. Officially classified as VERY
GOOD. For us it is EXCELLENT, with a score of 97 points." Tempranillo (80%) and Garnacha (20%). Both are from vines over 30 years old and their soils are predominantly clay-limestone. The ageing, always in American oak barrels made by our in-house coopers, lasted 36 months for the Tempranillo and 30 months for the Garnacha, to prevent oxidation. 20% is new oak and the rest is barrels that have previously contained three wines. Five traditional rackings were carried out — by candlelight from
barrel to barrel to manually decant the sediment and avoid aggressive filtering. Bottled in March 2021 for further bottle aging prior to release.
