Il Debbio is a small estate in the Maremma region of coastal Tuscany, where maritime influence and well-drained soils create ideal conditions for Bordeaux varieties. This pure Cabernet Franc showcases the grape's aromatic, herbaceous character in a warmer climate setting. The 2020 vintage has had time to integrate and develop complexity beyond primary fruit.
Red cherry, blackcurrant and raspberry with green pepper, dried herbs and subtle tobacco. Medium to full bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity. There's freshness and lift here despite the ripe fruit, showing classic Cabernet Franc character. Herbal and savoury notes balance the fruit sweetness. Clean finish with lingering spice.
Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Decant for 30-45 minutes to let it open up. Pairs well with grilled vegetables, roast pork, herb-roasted chicken, or aged cheeses. Drinking well now, will continue to develop over 5-7 years.

Emilio Falsini is a Tuscan-born wine consultant who works on just two quite differing projects: Nerello Mascalese vines grown on the northern slope of Etna at Contrada Feudo Pignatone, and Cabernet Franc vineyards in Debbiacci Le Sondraie in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci.
Il Debbio Cabernet Franc Costa Toscana is created from a selection of Cabernet Franc grapes grown along the Tuscan coast in one of the most beautiful settings this region has proved to possess some of the best conditions for growing this noble variety, which has found a new home in this corner of Tuscany. The choice of grapes for Il Debbio involves the careful selection of the best bunches in the vineyard, followed by the separate vinification of the most appropriate parcels according to the climate trends over the year, resulting in an elegant wine with a strong varietal identity and a mineral imprint. A fresh, dynamic wine that delivers a modern interpretation of Costa Toscana Cabernet Franc.
The hand-harvested grapes were vinified in small open containers, about 30% whole bunches, with skin contact for 15 days with daily punching down. Ageing for 58% of the wine was in cocciopesto amphora for 10 months; the remaining 42% in small barrels for 10 months.
