Pontignanello is a small estate in the Chianti Classico zone producing traditional Sangiovese-based wines. This standard Chianti Classico sees oak aging before release and the 2021 vintage has had time to settle and integrate. Three years brings some softness while maintaining the fresh, vibrant character expected from the appellation.
Sour cherry, red plum and cranberry with dried herbs, earth and subtle oak spice. Medium bodied with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity typical of Sangiovese. There's freshness here with some savoury development starting to emerge. Clean fruit expression with enough structure to pair with food. Satisfying finish with herbal notes.
Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Brief decanting (20-30 minutes) helps it open up. Pairs well with tomato-based pasta, pizza, grilled meats, or aged Tuscan cheeses. Drinking well now, will continue to develop over 3-5 years.

The Losi, an ancient family of Chianti winemakers, has been producing wine for five generations: their great passion has been going on since 1870, becoming an advocate of the Chianti Classico region and its native grapes. They are a small wine producer who searches for the quality through their daily commitment and their skills learned over generations.
The philosophy of the Losi wine estate is based on two fundamental principles, quality research and preservation of typical characteristics. The Losi family produces great wines with high organoleptic values, a task that all the family strives for with passion, by the constant renewal of the vineyards and the improvement of wine-making techniques. The renewal of vineyards takes place according to tradition, planting clones of native vines that have been carefully preserved and handed down through generations as a family patrimony. For the replacement of old vines with new ones, the Losi family favours the spurred cordon system. Thanks to their great experience and optimal terroir, the Losi family succeeds in obtaining high quality grapes in their vineyards. Finally, a permanent process of improvement and development of facilities and equipment in the cellar has allowed a steady improvement in wine-making techniques.
The Pontignanello estate, bought in 1998 by Pietro & Paolo, takes its name from the hamlet where the cellars of the Losi family are located. From those vineyards, the Chianti Classico shows itself fresh and mineral, an exact expression of its region of origin.
