Located between Saint-Julien and Margaux, Château Beaumont is a member of the “Union des Grands Crus” and “Alliance des Crus Bourgeois”. Something of a model in its combination of modern techniques with Médoc tradition, Château Beaumont obtained certification of its compliance with “Terra Vitis” specifications in 2004 as well as the right to use the “planned management” label, proof of its commitment to environmentally friendly viticultural methods. Eric Boissenot consults at Château Beaumont, one of the larger Cru Bourgeois, with 113 hectares in a single block, the vines averaging twenty years of age. Wines spend 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, one-third of them renewed each year.
2021 was marked by a major frost episode in the spring which caused targeted losses on the Merlot. The summer season took a long time to settle in, although there was plenty of sunshine from August onwards. The singularity of this year's climate gives particular nuances to this vintage. These climatic conditions impacted the yields, as happened in 2020, will be slightly lower than in previous years. The harvested grapes were generous, with a good phenolic maturity. They have a remarkable softness and brightness that is conducive to the production of elegant and harmonious wines. The Merlots have very nice ripe fruit, the Cabernet Sauvignons are powerful with fine tannins.
