Château Marjosse is owned by Pierre Lurton, the celebrated director of both Château Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem. Les Truffiers is his top red cuvée, made from the estate's oldest vines and best parcels in the Entre-Deux-Mers. This sees careful selection and oak aging, producing wines that punch well above the appellation's typical quality level. The 2018 vintage in Bordeaux was excellent, delivering ripe fruit with structure.
Blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum with cedar, graphite and earthy notes. Medium to full bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity. There's concentration and depth here showing the quality focus, this is serious Bordeaux winemaking applied to a lesser-known appellation. Layers of dark fruit, spice and mineral complexity. Long, structured finish.
Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Decant for 60 minutes if drinking now. Pairs excellently with grilled steaks, roast lamb, aged Comté, or cassoulet. Drinking well now but built to age over 8-12 years.

"With the Charmille, Canton du Loup and Truffiers cuvées, we wanted to highlight our different terroirs through the emblematic grape variety of the right bank: Merlot. Each of these cuvées corresponds to a place, a climate, a type of soil. Like the different color palettes available to a painter, the tasting of this triptych allows us to highlight the many assets of Marjosse. “Truffiers” takes root on the thinnest soils of Marjosse, where the clay layer is sometimes so thin that the limestone bedrock outcrops. The wines obtained are of great concentration, and their dark robe reminds one of the mysterious black diamond." - Chateau Marjosse
