Full bodied wine, strong and intense. The nose is powerful, between black fruits with rosemary and thyme. On the palate, black cherries, strawberry jam and a touch of black olive. The finish is long. The tannins will get softer if you are patient enough to age the wine for 5 years, but you can equally serve it young especially with food.
Perfect with a piece of lamb, roast beef or a rabbit chasseur. It can be paired with Italian food as well as Provençal cuisine. It would be a great companion to a large cheese platter.

In the 14th Century, the papacy, which was then in Avignon, chose Châteauneuf-du-Pape as the Pope’s summer residence. Seven successive Popes promoted the production of wine and the development of the vineyards. The rigour and reliability of the production methods are both a constant element in the history of this vineyard, and helped set the basis for some of the elements required to be awarded AOC status (now AOP, Appellation d'Origine Prôtégée). Châteauneuf-du-Pape was designated as an AOC in 1936. The blend of grapes in this wine is a classic example of some of the many permitted by the appellation such as Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah as well as lesser known varietals like Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette and Bourboulenc
