Recommended by James Davis, Master of Wine – one of the most accomplished professionals in the wine business:
"Fruity, juicy and rich with lots of plump red fruit flavours. Lovely spice and vanilla notes giving complexity. An approachable and great value for money wine from Bordeaux. Great with a steak, or roast dinner".

This gorgeous French red hails from Lalande de Pomerol, the up-and-coming next-door neighbour of the prestigious appellation of Pomerol. The appellation is fast gaining an excellent reputation for making excellent quality wines that are stylistically similar to those produced in Pomerol, but often with a far more attractive price tag!
The wine is crafted by the talented Jean-François Dehaut, a winemaker who has inherited his passion for growing vines from his beloved grandparents. When they passed away, his father already had another job and Jean-François was too young to take over their vineyard. So, he worked for 12 years in an office and then as a warehouse manager, before feeling the call of the vineyards in 1994.
Today he runs Château des Baraillots, a relatively small vineyard which covers little over 4 hectares, with his wife and an experienced team. Production may be in small quantities, but this means he and his team produce each and every wine with a huge amount of care, love and passion.
