Tasting Notes

Slurp Wines NR

The first grapes to be harvested achieve maximum freshness and lightness, resulting in a straightforward, festive and authentic rose. Thanks to careful vineyard handling to enable early harvesting, it has a lower alcohol content. This is the rose that will set trends. [Slurp Wines, 05/06/2026]

Ramon Bilbao is a renowned Spanish winery based in Rioja, known for producing high-quality wines that blend tradition with innovation. Established in 1924, the winery specializes in crafting elegant, complex wines, with a focus on Tempranillo grapes. Their top-tier wine, Mirto, is made from old vines in select vineyards and is produced only in exceptional years, reflecting the excellence and craftsmanship that define the Ramon Bilbao legacy.

The vineyards are located at altitudes between 550 and 770 meters on various estates in Alto Najerilla, at the foot of Sierra de la Demanda. The soils are rocky, with some clay and lower levels of limestone compared to other Rioja areas.

The grape skins were in contact with the juice for 3 hours at low temperature to achieve a light salmon pink color. After that, the juice was separated and fermented in tanks at a low temperature to preserve the variety's aromatic profile.

The season was challenging, with extreme weather conditions: early frosts, heavy rains, and drought. Despite this, timely rainfall allowed for balanced grape ripening, and the harvest began in early September.
