Slurp Wines NR
Chateau Puech-Haut transformed the reputation of Languedoc wines when Gerard Bru took over the estate in the 1990s, proving the region could produce world-class reds. Located in the Saint-Drezery terroir north of Montpellier, the estate farms old vines on clay-limestone soils. This Prestige cuvee blends Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, aged in French oak. The 2021 vintage delivers ripe southern fruit with freshness and balance. Blackberry, black cherry and plum with garrigue herbs, black pepper and hints of liquorice. Full bodied with density and concentration but not heavy. Velvety tannins with grip and structure underneath. There`s power here tempered by elegance, showing the quality potential of top Languedoc sites. Long finish with dark chocolate and spice notes. Decant for 45-60 minutes if drinking now. Pairs excellently with grilled lamb, beef daube, game, or aged hard cheeses. Serve around 16-18°C. Drinking well now but built to age over 10-12 years.
