For one afternoon, Slurp and Waud Handford are putting the range on tables in a room in the City and opening the doors. Around 50 wines, four hours, no particular order to work through them in.
Everyday bottles you'll want to restock through winter, sitting alongside a few proper occasion wines you wouldn't normally open on a whim. All poured, all open, all yours to work through. Wander, taste, skip what doesn't interest you, linger on what does. Expect names like Laurent-Perrier, Spier, Wakefield, Mar de Frades and Ramon Bilbao on the tables.
It's been a few years since we last did this, and it's still the best way we know to find what you'll actually want in the house this winter. Reading a tasting note tells you something. Tasting a row of them side by side tells you rather more.
No notes to study, nobody checking what you know. Come for half an hour on the way home or stay the whole afternoon.

Standing tasting, wear something comfortable. Spittoons on every table and nobody will think less of you for using them. Over 18s only; we may ask for ID. Tickets are non-refundable but fully transferable, if you can't make it, send someone in your place and let us know the name.

FAQ
Q: Do I need to know a lot about wine?
A: Not at all. Some of the people there will be able to talk vintages and terroir all night, and others will just be figuring out what they like, both are completely welcome. There's no test, no right answers, just wine to try and time to work out what you enjoy.
Q: Is it a seminar or a structured tasting?
A: No structure, no running order. The wines will be laid out around the room and you're free to make your own way through them, at your own pace, in whatever order takes your fancy.
Q: Do I need to be there at 4pm?
A: Not at all. Come whenever suits you between 4pm and 8pm, and stay for as long as you like, whether that's five minutes or the full four hours.
Q: Can I buy the wines I like on the night?
A: Yes, if you find something you love, we'll take your order on the night (at a special price) and have the wine delivered straight to your door, so there's no need to carry bottles home with you.
Q: Can I get a refund if I can't make it?
Tickets are non-refundable, but they are fully transferable, so if something comes up, just pass your ticket on to someone else rather than letting it go to waste.
Q: What if I don't know anyone there?
A: That's genuinely fine. Most people come solo or in small groups, and our team will be around all evening if you want a recommendation, a chat, or just a friendly face to say hello to.
