Tasting Notes

'
Housed in a breath-taking art nouveau villa in Reims with sprawling chalk cellars, Champagne Pommery have always taken a unique and individualistic approach to the world's foremost sparkling wine. When Madame Pommery took the helm in 1865, she commissioned the building of what was possibly France's greatest architectural project since Versailles. An anglophile at heart, Madame Pommery also set out to create a Champagne in tune with drier styles preferred by the English, who were, and remain, some of the world's most prolific consumers of Champagne. In doing this, she is credited with pioneering the Brut style of Champagne that is now the most popular style on the market. A few years ago, Pommery demonstrated that they are still true firebrands and pioneers, purchasing vineyard land in Hampshire, England and launching Louis Pommery England Brut, the first commercial English Sparkling Wine to be made by a Champagne house.
