Most people know Assyrtiko from Santorini, but this one grows on the mainland, in Tyrnavos at the foot of Mount Olympus. Christos Zafeirakis is the fourth generation of his family to farm here, and in 2005 he planted the first organic vineyard in the area. His Assyrtiko is bright and zesty, with lemon, lime peel and a bit of white peach, then that salty, flinty kick the grape is loved for. Refreshing, but with enough body to feel like a proper wine. Grilled fish, a Greek salad or a plate of calamari and you're sorted.
