Slurp Wines NR
Louis Chèze is one of Condrieu`s most respected producers, farming steep granite terraces in the northern Rhône. Pagus Luminis (Field of Light) comes from a specific south-facing parcel with exceptional sun exposure, producing intensely aromatic Viognier with concentration and minerality. Condrieu is one of the world`s great white wine appellations, but tiny production keeps it relatively rare. The 2023 vintage delivers ripe fruit with excellent freshness. Apricot, white peach and honeysuckle with orange blossom, ginger and a stony mineral edge. Full bodied with rich, textured mouthfeel balanced by bright acidity. There`s opulence here but it`s not heavy, showing restraint despite the ripeness. Layers of stone fruit, spice and mineral complexity. Long, perfumed finish. Serve cool (10-12°C), not ice cold, to appreciate the aromatics and texture. Pairs beautifully with lobster, rich fish dishes, roast chicken, or creamy cheeses. Drinking well now, will develop further over 3-5 years though many prefer Condrieu young for maximum aromatics.
