Finca Lobeira takes its name from Monte Lobeira, a striking granite outcrop rising to 293 metres above the Salnés Valley and the Ría de Arousa. Tucked into a sheltered valley on its northern flank, surrounded by pine and eucalyptus forest, this 7.97-hectare vineyard was planted in 2004 on trellised vines. As winemaker Paula Fandiño puts it, the wine carries "a touch of wild mountain and a touch of waves and sand," rooted in granite yet shaped by its closeness to the sea. Grapes are hand-picked at peak aromatic maturity and transported to the winery in small crates, with only the best fruit approved for vinification after careful selection. Just the free-run juice is retained, fermented with indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures for precision and finesse. The wine then spends fourteen months on its fine lees with fortnightly bâtonnage, building texture and a rounded, creamy mouthfeel, while a small portion matures in French oak. After blending, it rests a further four months in bottle before release. The result is a Godello with real depth and character: granite-driven minerality balanced by a soft, textured palate, and the freshness of its Atlantic surroundings running through it.
