Slurp Wines NR
Domaine le Sang des Cailloux (Blood of the Stones) is a small, family-run estate in Vacqueyras producing some of the southern Rhône`s most sought-after wines. The name refers to the deep red galets roules (round stones) covering their vineyards. Cuvee Oumage (Homage) is their premium bottling, made from ancient Grenache vines averaging 80+ years old. The 2019 vintage has had time to integrate and develop complexity. Dark cherry, blackberry and plum with garrigue herbs, liquorice and peppery spice. Full bodied with concentration and power typical of old-vine Grenache. Velvety tannins with grip and structure underneath. The fruit has evolved beyond primary sweetness, showing leather, tobacco and earthy notes. There`s warmth balanced by freshness. Long, persistent finish with dark chocolate notes. Decant for at least an hour if drinking now. Pairs excellently with slow-cooked lamb, game, beef daube, or aged hard cheeses. Serve around 16-18°C. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to develop over another 8-10 years.
