Tasting Notes

Slurp Wines NR

Clos des Chênes (Enclosure of the Oaks) is one of Volnay`s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards, known for producing wines of exceptional elegance and finesse. The vineyard sits mid-slope with ideal southeast exposure and limestone-rich soils that bring mineral tension to the wines. Volnay is renowned for producing the most perfumed and delicate wines of the Côte de Beaune. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy delivered ripe, approachable wines with structure, and this has developed beautifully. Red cherry, raspberry and violet with rose petals, forest floor and subtle spice. Medium bodied with silky, refined tannins and bright acidity. The fruit has evolved into savoury complexity with mushroom, leather and earthy notes. There`s elegance and perfume here, showing why Volnay is prized for finesse over power. Long, mineral-driven finish. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Decant for 30-45 minutes to let the aromatics open. Pairs beautifully with duck, game birds, wild mushrooms, or soft cheeses. Drinking at its peak now, will hold another 3-5 years [Slurp Wines, 05/06/2026]
