Slurp Wines NR
Clos de Vougeot is one of Burgundy`s most famous Grand Cru vineyards, a walled 50-hectare site with a history dating back to Cistercian monks in the 12th century. Roblet-Monnot is a small family domaine farming a parcel within the Clos. The 2008 vintage was excellent in Burgundy, producing wines with structure, freshness and exceptional aging potential. Seventeen years have transformed this into tertiary glory. Dried cherry, forest floor and mushroom with leather, tobacco and earthy complexity dominating. Medium bodied with silky, fully resolved tannins. The fruit has evolved completely into savoury, tertiary character with game, truffle and sous-bois notes. Bright acidity remains intact, typical of the 2008 vintage. This is mature Burgundy showing why Grand Cru wines command such prices. Long, ethereal finish. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Handle gently and decant carefully if there`s sediment, but minimal air needed. Pairs beautifully with game birds, wild mushrooms, aged Comté, or enjoy on its own to appreciate the complexity. Drinking at its absolute peak now, enjoy over the next 3-5 years.
