Michel Magnien is a highly regarded domaine based in Morey-Saint-Denis, one of the Côte de Nuits' most prestigious villages. The family farms parcels across the appellation with meticulous attention to detail and minimal intervention winemaking. This village-level Morey comes from younger vines and declassified fruit, but still shows the elegance and minerality the village is known for. The 2019 vintage in Burgundy delivered concentrated, balanced wines.
Red cherry, raspberry and plum with violet, stone and subtle spice. Medium bodied with silky tannins and bright acidity. There's elegance and purity here showing classic Morey character, more refined than neighbouring Gevrey, with mineral tension running through. Fresh fruit balanced by earthy complexity starting to emerge. Long, precise finish.
Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Decant for 30 minutes to open up the aromatics. Pairs beautifully with duck breast, guinea fowl, wild mushroom tart, or semi-aged Époisses. Drinking well now, will develop further over 5-8 years

Michel Magnien represents the fourth generation of wine growers of the Magnien family. From a very young age, he worked on the vineyard of his father, Bernard Magnien (third generation) owner of 4 hectares of vines. The Domaine is an 18-hectare vine Estate located on the Côte de Nuits and spilt into 23 appellations of Grands Crus, Premiers Crus, Villages and AOC Régionales.
After years of application, Domaine Michel Magnien was certified as biodynamic by Demeter in 2015. At each stage, the work follows the rhythm of the synodic cycle of the moon. They are fully committed to organic agricultural principles in their management of vines and wines.
Thanks to Michel Magnien's special care for his vines over the years, the wines are unique and faithful to the best terroirs in Burgundy. The Estate is now managed by Frédéric, the fifth generation, who strives to raise our wines at the highest level of quality.
Aged for 18 months. Ageing takes place in 55% oak barrels and 45% in terracotta amphorae to preserve the freshness of the fruit.
