Tasting notes

This enticingly smooth claret, from what is widely considered to be the best Bordeaux vintage in recent years, is ready to drink now, with a ripe, flavoursome Merlot palate and an elegant tannic structure. Served at room temperature, this wine brings out the best in roasted meats and baked root vegetables.

Château Moulin de Fontmuree Lussac St Émilion is the second wine of the Château La Claymore Estate, which is owned by François Linard, a vigneron who belongs to a great family of wine growers.  The wine takes its name from a mill with a rotating wheel that was used on the Estate more than 100 years ago to mill wheat into flour.  Linard and his wife Maria-Dolorès are both passionate about making wines to be savoured, focusing specifically on quality, respect for the soil and tradition.

The name Lussac may be unfamiliar but it is one of Saint-Émilion’s satellite appellations – and one of the only ones deemed to be of high enough quality to attach “Saint-Émilion” to its name. Its red wines are similar in style to those produced in Saint- Émilion, Merlot-dominant blends with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and other Bordeaux varieties, but they are considerably more pocket-friendly.

For optimal enjoyment, we recommend that you allow this wine to stand for at least an hour and decant before serving. Due to the age of this wine, there may be a quantity of fine sediment.
