Brandy?

Brandy is a spirit produced by distilling wine and exists in many different forms around the world (most notably Cognac and Armagnac from France). Brandy making goes back to the 15th century and those of the best quality are produced in copper pot stills. It generally contains 35%-60% ABV, and whilst some are aged in wooden caks, most are coloured with caramel colouring to imitate the effect of aging. Brandy can also be made from fermented fruit (such as apples to produce Calvados) and from pomace. It is a versatile spirit which can be mixed with a wide range of other products.
