Tasting Notes

Slurp Wines NR

Chapel Down is one of England`s most established sparkling wine producers, helping put English fizz on the map since the 1990s. This Brut is made using the traditional method (same as Champagne) from grapes grown in Kent, where the chalky soils mirror those of Champagne. Typically a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Non-vintage, maintaining consistent house style across harvests. Green apple, citrus and brioche with subtle floral notes. Medium bodied with fine, persistent bubbles and bright acidity. Crisp and refreshing with clean fruit expression and gentle yeasty complexity from time on lees. Elegant rather than powerful, showing restraint typical of English sparkling wine. Dry with a clean, mineral finish. Serve well chilled (6-8°C). Excellent aperitif or pair with smoked salmon, oysters, fish and chips, or soft cheeses. The acidity makes it versatile with food. Drink within 2-3 years to capture the freshness. Chapel Down is a leading English wine producer with an award-winning range of sparkling and still wines. Based in Kent, in the heart of the Garden of England, they produce wines of the highest quality and which offer the best expression of England. The winery estate in Tenterden is open to the public for guided tours and experiences.

Their wines are produced from grapes grown in the South East of England, primarily situated on the Kent Downs. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Bacchus vines are grown on south facing chalk soils and benefit from a warm, maritime climate. They also source high quality fruit from long-term partner vineyards across Kent, Sussex and Essex, resulting in balanced wines with unique flavour profiles.
