Tasting Notes

Slurp Wines NR

Ayala is one of Champagne`s historic houses, founded in 1860 and known for their fresh, precise style with minimal dosage. Rose Majeur blends Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with addition of still red wine from their vineyards. The house style favours elegance and freshness over power, creating rose with refinement rather than intensity. Non-vintage for consistent quality. Wild strawberry, raspberry and citrus with subtle brioche and mineral notes. Light to medium bodied with fine, persistent bubbles and bright acidity. Fresh and delicate with restrained red berry fruit. There`s elegance and purity here showing Ayala`s refined approach to rose. Mineral tension keeps it lively. Clean, crisp finish. Serve well chilled (6-8°C). Pairs well with sushi, smoked salmon, summer berries, or works as a delicate aperitif. The freshness and restraint make it versatile without overwhelming lighter dishes. Ready to enjoy now. [Slurp Wines, 05/06/2026]

Ayala is one of the longest established Champagne houses, and one of the original twenty-six Grandes Marques, based in Aÿ in the heart of the region. Pioneers of producing the now expected drier style, this house is synonymous with The Roaring Twenties. Since 2005, Ayala has been under the ownership and guidance of Bollinger, and with increased investment coupled with access to some of the best vineyards, and an individual hand-made approach, these wines offer the highest quality but also great value for money.

Made predominantly with Chardonnnay and an addition of a small proportion
of Pinot Noir, from the best Crus of Montagne de Reims, Rose Majeur offers
finesse and elegance. Low dosage allows the House style to be expressed with
the wine spending an average of 3 years ageing on its lees and resting for four
to six months after disgorgement.
