Slurp Wines NR
San Marzano is a quality-focused cooperative in Puglia producing wines from some of the region`s oldest vineyards. Sessantanni (Sixty Years) is made exclusively from ungrafted Primitivo vines planted in 1959, still on their original rootstock. These ancient vines produce tiny yields of intensely concentrated fruit. The 2019 vintage has spent time developing in bottle, gaining complexity and integration. Blackberry, plum and dark cherry with dried figs, chocolate and sweet spice. Full bodied with rich, concentrated fruit and soft, velvety tannins smoothed by age. There`s power here but it`s not heavy or jammy, showing restraint despite the ripeness. The fruit has evolved beyond primary sweetness into something more complex with leather and tobacco notes. Long, warming finish. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). No decanting needed at this stage. Pairs well with braised meats, aged cheeses, rich pasta dishes, or works nicely on its own. Drinking beautifully now, will hold another 3-5 years.
