Slurp Wines NR
Chateau Rouget is one of Pomerol`s oldest estates, with records dating back to the 1700s. The property sits on prime clay and gravel soils in the heart of the appellation, producing wines with the richness and concentration Pomerol is known for. Predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak. The 2019 vintage in Bordeaux was excellent, delivering ripe fruit with balance, and five years has brought beautiful development. Black cherry, plum and blackcurrant with truffle, leather and earthy notes. Full bodied with silky, rounded tannins softened by age. The fruit has evolved beyond primary sweetness into tertiary complexity with tobacco, coffee and mineral character. There`s richness typical of Pomerol balanced by freshness. Long, harmonious finish. Serve at room temperature (16-18°C). Decant for 45-60 minutes to let it breathe. Pairs excellently with duck confit, roast beef, game, or aged hard cheeses. Drinking beautifully now, will continue to develop over another 10-15 years.
