Tasting Notes

Slurp Wines NR

With elegant, tropical and stone fruit aromas on the nose, this fine Riesling is immediately impressive. On the palate, it is intense and concentrated yet offers the finesse that you would expect from Schloss Johanissberg`s signature wine. A benchmark for Rheingau Rieslings. [Slurp Wines, 05/06/2026]

The notable Schloss Johannisberg winery, which overlooks Germany's picturesque Rhine River, is synonymous with Riesling and makes some of the finest, most long-lived expressions of this noble grape variety. It is considered one of the most famed and historic estates in Germany, having first been founded as a wine-producing Benedictine Monastery in 1100. The winery changed hands many times over the following six centuries but took its first step towards quality viticulture in 1720, when it was entirely replanted with Riesling vines.

The grapes used to produce this outstanding wine come entirely from Schloss Johannisberg's late-ripening southwest facing vineyards. Grape must undegoes a long, slow fermentation process before being aged on lees for 24 months in the estate's cool cellars in barrels.
