Yves Cuilleron La Petite Cote Condrieu 2018
A delicious wine from "the leader of Condrieu's new generation of winemakers."
An expressive and seductive wine. The nose evokes a basket of fruits such as apricot, quince, peach and citrus fruits. Some sweet notes of flowers (lilac, rose and violet) and honey make the whole palate even more charming. The mouth is filling and fresh, with a beautiful spicy power and a mouth-watering bitterness on the finish which is typical of this vintage. Drink now or cellar for no more than 3-4 years.
Yves Cuilleron, represents the 4th generation of Cuilleron vignerons although he initially trained as a engineer. Described by Wine Spectator as "the leader of Condrieu's new generation of winemakers.", Yves had a year's training at the Ecole Viticole in Macon before he took over the family vineyards in 1987.
Since then he has built an entirely new winery at Chavany facility while at the same time he acquired additional vineyard property. The domaine is now divided between the appellations of St. Joseph Blanc, St. Joseph Rouge, Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu. Most of the vineyards are situated in and around the commune of Chavanay which is just south of the town of Condrieu. Yves's Condrieu production is split into 3 cuvées; La Petite Côte, an old vines cuvée Les Chaillets, and a late harvest cuvée Les Ayguets.
