Viña Los Vascos Las Huertas Grande Réserve 2015
A fantastic limited parcel Cabernet-blend from top Chilean estate Viña Los Vascos
The Las Huertas Grande Réserve 2015 is a blend consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon (with Carmenère, Syrah and Cabernet Franc), produced using traditional vinification and maturing techniques with 12 months, ageing in 50% new oak barrels. The wine is characterised by the complexity and persistence of its aroma of cherries and blackcurrants, strawberries, raspberries and plums, with notes of bay leaves and black pepper. This being the 2015 with additional bottle age also shows mellow savoury flavours to add to it's character, along with a warming long finish.
Lovely ruby red color with brick-like nuances. Aromas of fresh, ripe fruit such as raspberries, cherries, and plums can be discerned in the nose, along with notes of cocoa, peppermint, black olive, white pepper, and prune. On the palate, an appealing style is backed up by powerful tannins. An easy-to-drink, extremely pleasant wine.
Viña Los Vascos came under the ownership of Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1988, and has been one of the pioneers of Chile's Colchagua region. The range of wines are benchmarks for elegance and finesse in Chile, and offer a style balanced between ripe fruit and a European Bordeaux-like Character and structure.
