Vazisubani Estate Khikhvi 2017 (Orange Wine)
A lovely dry white from Georgia with intriguing notes of green tea, apricots and dried fruits
This wine is made using the traditional Georgian method of storing harvested grapes in subterranean terracotta jars (Qvevri). At the end of 19th century the Vazisubani estate was developed by a young aristocrat Sulkhan Chavchavadze. It is considered to be the most beautiful and wealthiest region of Kakheti. The Khikhvi variety is able to produce high quality table and dessert wine. The origin of its name is not known but is a variety mostly present in areas of Georgia.
A full body with a soft and velvety finish. After 6 - 7 years of aging, this wine has evolved complex, secondary flavours typical to this style of aged wine, holding a beautiful bouquet with aromas of green tea, dried fruit and bee’s wax.
