Lots of varietal cherry and strawberry aromas with complexing forest floor undertones. A soft but generously flavoured style with sweet aromas of berries and mushroom. The palate is long and concentrated with rich sweet fruit, subtle savoury oak support and smooth tannins. Serving Suggestion: An ideal accompaniment to red meat, game dishes, tomato based pasta and semi-soft cheeses.
Named after the Tyrrell’s historic winery in the Hunter Valley, which was built in 1863 for the first vintage in 1864. A classic range of wines produced using fruit from premium Australian wine regions, Old Winery delivers distinctive varietal character and outstanding quality synonymous with the Tyrrell’s name. Designed for immediate enjoyment, the Old Winery promise is to provide a quality wine to suit every palate preference at a refreshingly affordable price. This is a blend of pinot noir fruit from some of the best red growing regions in the country. The majority of the fruit was machine harvested, after which the fruit was fermented in a combination of traditional hand plunged open vats and larger tanks. Maturation was then carried out in predominantly French oak casks for 12 months prior to bottling.
