Tournée du Sud Picpoul de Pinet 2019
A lovely, refreshing dry white with aromas of grapefruit, citrus and delicate notes of fresh acacia flowers on the nose. Just divine with shellfish!
A well-crafted wine from an eco-friendly producer with aromas of grapefruit, citrus, stone fruits and delicate notes of fresh acacia flowers on the nose. There is also great concentration on the palate, with a zingy acidity and a long lingering citrus finish. This elegant wine is perfect for seafood – its pronounced acidity plays the same role as a squeeze of lemon on your shellfish dish.
The grapes are grown by an eco-friendly producer, who uses sustainable agricultural practices in the vineyard. The vineyard sits at an elevated position, with clay and limestone soils, which impart elegance to the wine. As the daytime temperatures can be hot, harvesting is carried out at night, to keep the grapes cool and retain optimum freshness.
Drawing energy from their vast bank of solar panels, the wineries refrigeration units are used to keep the juice cool during maceration and fermentation to ensure the wine produced is clean and fresh, and also carbon emissions are reduced. The grapes were harvested at optimal maturity levels and transported immediately to the winery where they were macerated and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. The juice was cold settled and fermented with selected yeasts at low temperatures in stainless steel vats, to preserve the freshness and aromatics of the Picpoul Blanc variety.
