The Crossings Wild Sauvignon Blanc 2016
The Crossing ‘Wild’ Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of texture, weight and funk!
The Crossing ‘Wild’ Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of texture, weight and funk! The flinty smoky characters on the nose highlight the hands-off approach taken to the fermentation management, with underlying stone fruit notes providing purity and varietal expression. The palate reveals ripe nectarine, mineral acidity and great texture and weight.
Part of the Yealands family wine group since 2011, The Crossings has three distinct vineyard sites along the north bank of the Awatere River; Medway, planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
The Crossings love their wine and the land that helps produce it, so they do everything to guarantee they will be able to keep making wine here indefinitely. All three of their vineyards are fully accredited through the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand programme. The goal is to make sure nothing done now will have an effect that will detract from the land or the wine in the future.
