Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc 2020
This wine retains the mineral character and refinement of an Old World Sauvignon Blanc while delivering the fuller body and ripe stone fruit flavours of a New World Sauvignon. Prepare to be wowed by this wine with its dry mineral core, intense nose of peaches and grapefruit and long, inviting finish.
True to Southern Right, this wine is a less varietal expression of this potentially excessive grape. The focus is on Sauvignon Blanc as a fine wine expression of site and soil ahead of the variety.
Pairs well with fresh fish dishes or goats cheese tarts and salads.
This outstanding Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc is produced by legendary winemaker Anthony Hamilton Russell, a pioneering cool-climate winemaker who has set the standard of quality and sophistication for South African wine. The estate-grown grapes are cultivated in South Africa’s storm-protected Walker Bay, just behind the old fishing village of Hermanus. This village is renowned as the whale watching capital of South Africa and the wine takes its name from the majestic Southern Right whales that frequent the region’s shores between June and December.
