Satiro Clandestino Alentejo 2016
An intense and bold red from Portugal's Alentejo, fermented in traditional Amphorae (clay pots)
This is a deep ruby in the glass, with intense aromas of ripe red fruits, violets, smoke and spices. This is a full-bodied and full-flavoured red, with a ripe and rich palate full of black and red fruits, with plums and black cherry, along with spices and floral notes. This hs a velvety mouthfeel, with an almost sweet touch to the ripe fruit, balanced well by mineral notes leading through on the long finish.
Produced by Herdade das Assentes de Baixo in Portugal's Alentejo region, this very limited production red is a bold blend of Syrah, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet. The wine is vinified in Amphorae - tradtional Roman clay pots, which adds another dimension to the style and complexity. The wine is also matured for 9 months in French and American oak barriques.
