San Marzano Edda Lei Bianco Salento 2019
San Marzano is one of the most highly regarded cooperatives in Southern Italy - awarded European Producer of the Year at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2017. Impeccable quality.
A distinctive blend of Chardonnay 60%, Minutolo 20%, Moscatello Selvatico 15% and 5% other varieties delivering aromas of sun-ripened peach and mellow floral aromatics, which are interwoven with delicate hints of vanilla. Fresh and beautifully balanced, the rounded palate is elegantly styled and has a touch of minerality on the finish.
Best Absolute Italian Wine 99 POINTS, LUCA MARONI
San Marzano was established back in 1962 when 19 family vine growers joined to combine their resources and expertise, with the aim to produce wines which reflect the region, while embracing modern winery practices. They are now one of the most highly regarded cooperatives in Southern Italy - highlighted when they were awarded European Producer of the Year at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2017, with trained biologist Caterina Bellanova at the helm. We think the quality across the range is excellent, and they offer great expressions of local grapes such as Negroamaro and Malvasia, while being very well-priced, making these perfect weekday wines.
