Chateau Pichon Lalande Reserve de la Comtesse 2016
A powerful, rich and extremely elegant Pauillac. Top class!
Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande's second wine, Reserve de la Comtesse, is produced in the Pauillac appellation. The wine has been awarded superb points by some of the world's most renownded wine critics.
It is led by 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 37% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine is beautifully dark and defined, with fresh black plums, black olive and dried currants. The palate is medium-bodied, very elegant and fresh with gorgeous, silky tannins. Loads of fresh fruit to begin with, ends with a spicy finish.
Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande had an interesting 2016. The winter was mild and with lots of rainfall in spring, some mildew appeared on the vines. Fortunately, a sustained period of good weather meant that the grapes could mature well. A good summer allowed furtherdevelopment meaning there were no problems in the run up to harvest.
Reserve de la Comtesse 2016 is a very good vintage. Powerful, rich and extremely elegant. This wine will keep for 25 to 30 years.
