Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco 2015
The Marcenasco cru is found in La Morra. Awarded 92 Points - The Wine Advocate "beautifully full and generous expression"
Half way up the hill overlooking the main Barolo valley lies Renato Ratti’s winery. The respectful, yet innovative wine-making philosophy of Renato Ratti lives on thanks to the passion and commitment of his son Pietro Ratti. Since taking over from his father in 1988, Pietro Ratti has been carrying on the work of expanding and restoring the family owned vineyards. Leaders in Piedmont, Renato Ratti’s portfolio includes the original Barolo Marcenasco DOCG, the single-vineyards Barolo Conca and Rocche Dell’ Annunziata, together with their range of Nebbiolo and Barbera wines.
"This is a beautifully fully and generous expression from a vineyard that has historically been farmed by the Ratti family of La Morra. The Marcenasco cru is located directly under the winery, and although it is not in the official list of MGA crus, the vineyard name is registered to this winery. In the 2015 Barolo Marcenasco, you get the full fruit and dark berry nuances of the vintage with pretty softness and approachable, supple tannins." 92 Points, Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate
