Quinta das Maias Tinto 2012
Dark fruits of blackberry and sloe are broad and lush on the palate, complimented by suggestions of herb and mineral.
Established in 1893, this high altitude estate is situated in the foothills of Serra de Estrella, Dao. It takes its from the thriving Weavers Broom, known locally as Maias, because of its distinctive yellow flowers that blossom in the month of May. The elegant Mencia variety, known locally as Jaen, thrives here, and is blended in this wine with Touriga Nacional for added power and depth.
