For the last 10 years, Protos has been studying every plot of land it owns, observing how Tempranillo clones adapt and change in each location to gain a deeper understanding of the vine, and ultimately craft the best expression of each terroir. The vineyard area spans an enormous 1,400 hectares throughout the Ribera del Duero, Rueda and Cigales DO's, with some of the vines aged at between 50 and 100 years old. The soils are a mixture of loam-clay-sand, as well as some limestone and silt.
