Prios Maxium Roble Ribero del Duero 2016
A great value Tempranillo wine from Ribero del Duero
Prios Maximus Roble is a red wine from the DO Ribera del Duero made by Bodegas de los Rios Prieto. The company was founded by Felix de los Rios Iglesias was founded in 2000 in the small town of Pesquera del Duero, which is famous for being the home of many fine Ribera del Duero wines including the iconic Pesquera. It is situated close to the banks of the River Duero in the province of Valladolid in the autonomous Comunidad de Castilla y León.
The grapes for the Prios Maximus Roble are 100% Tempranillo, which is known in the local areas as Tinta del Pais, from vineyards with an average age of 40 years old. The grapes are carefully monitored for acidity, weight, and sugars by winemaker Jorge González from early September so that they can be harvested at peak ripeness.
A deep red colour in the glass, this wine is juicy and plush with flavours of plum, blackcurrant, hints of red fruits plus a good hit of oak. Occasional savoury, leathery notes of Spanish typicity come through on the palate, balanced with good acidity and structure from the tannins. Drink now until 2024. Great with lamb, BBQ or Spanish flavours.
