The colour is clear and bright. The nose is fresh and clean with expressive flavour characteristics of passion fruit, grapefruit, gooseberry and black currant. These flavours follow through onto the palate which has a lovely creamy, yet elegant, texture – the result of extended lees contact and the portion of Semillon.
Paul Cluver is a pioneer in the Elgin region, a cool-climate area at altitude, east of Stellenbosch. This winery was the first to grow grapes in this area that is traditionally known for its apple orchards. Now there are 12 grape growers in the region.
