Ovilos Barrel Fermented Semillon Assyrtiko PGI Pangeon 2017
Awarded 95 points by Decanter, this is really interesting and delicious style of white
Ramping up a gear or two, this is quite different to our other Greek whites. An Assyrtiko and Semillon blend which is full flavoured with a richly fruited palate and obvious oak. Barrel-fermented, the oak is handled very well though and gives a classy feel to the wine - which could be mistaken for Meursault, albeit with an exotic edge! Take to a dinner party to suprise and impress guests. Enjoy now to 2022.
"Intense fruity and herbal aromas sit alongside stone fruit and some creamy notes in the mouth. Long, layered and precise, the palate offers roasted almonds, flowers, exuberant fruit and a very long finish. Outstanding stuff. This is a gastronomic and promising wine with lashings of character and class. " 95 Pts Gold - Decanter World Wine Awards 2018
A musky nose, this has a backbone of fresh acidity which keeps things balanced and ensures the rich character isn't overpowering. The finish is long and pronounced with vanilla oak and peach fruit with a smoky edge. A really interesting and delicious style.
