The Nikka Whisky brand began in 1940, the brainchild of the founding father of Japanese Whisky, Masataka Taketsuru. Taketsuru mastered his art while studying in Scotland, apprenticing at renowned distilleries such as Longmorn and Hazelburn. He took his newfound expertise home to Japan, where he would go on to create the phenomenon that is Japanese Whisky.
