Neudorf Vineyards Rosie's Block Chardonnay 2018
A Chardonnay of individuality and complexity.
The Chardonnay resembles perhaps more closely Burgundy than anything else from New Zealand. This Chardonnay has an elegant and linear quality reminiscent of fine Chablis. Pale daffodil green yellow in the glass. This wine has vibrant ripe fruit notes on the nose leading into a palate of fresh crusty bread and peach kernel with a finish of river-stone minerality. A wine of individuality and complexity. Open a cool bottle, start shucking oysters and begin humming.
Since founding the estate in 1978 on the north-facing slopes of the Moutere Valley, at the top of the South Island, Tim and Judy Linn have created an international reputation for all their wines: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Riesling. The vineyards are dry farmed on gravelly, clay-rich soils. Nelson is one of the sunniest parts of New Zealand and the warm summers, extending into cooler autumn nights, produce intense and rich-textured wines.
