Nauta Catalunya Xarel-lo 2017
A fresh, crisp white made from Spain's indigenous Xarel-lo grape
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Ferrer family began producing sparkling wine using the method perfected by the Champagne winemakers. Named after their 13th century family home, Freixenet derives from ''La Freixeneda'', meaning ''a place where ash trees grow'' in Catalan. With 150 years of successful winemaking, Freixenet is a leading player in the international wine trade.
Nauta represents Freixenet's expressions of Spain's regional grape varieties, offering great value and delivering excellent flavour. So far they have made wonderful examples of Monastrell (red) from Alicante and Xarel-lo (white) from Catalunya.
This wine is made from Spain's indigenous Xarel-lo grape, picked from Freixenet's best sites in Catalunya. The wine is made under cool temperatures which retains the grapes natural freshness and enhances it's crisp flavours and purity. A touch of lees aging adds balance and texture to a palate of green apple, citrus and blossom.
